JULY HOLIDAY PROGRAM 🥋Get your kids signed up for the bestest and cheapest holiday programme going.Dates: Monday 3rd - Friday 7th of July. 5 days.Times: 9.00am - 3.00pm.Eligible: Kids 6-13 years. Experienced judoka, raw beginners and everything in between.Students need to bring: Judogi and Belt, Food for the day, water bottle, rash top or extra tee shirt, medication as needed. We can loan dogi and belt for those who are new to judo.Cost:5 Days - $120 4 Days - $100 3 Days - $80 2 Days - $60 1 Days - $40All subsequent family members get $20 discount.At least 15 kids each day are needed to make this fly.Please email info@wellingtonjudo.org.nz for bookings or questions.

A small team of two from the academy attended this year’s Canterbury Open !Roberta won Gold medals in both the Junior and Senior Women’s 63kg categories.Lucinda took Gold medals in the Senior and Cadet Girls 52kg and Open weight categories.Six golds across two competitors is more than a little impressive.

Wellington Judo Academy member Qona Christie recently competed at the World Judo Championships in Doha.Her first World Championships saw her matched with Bakyt Kussakbayeva of Kazakhstan in the Women’s Under 57kg Class.Qona defeated her opponent by Ippon with Juji Gatame, allowing her to advance to the second round.In this round, Qona was paired with the Mongolian, Enkhriilen Lkhagvatogoo who beat Qona, eventually taking Bronze in the category.Congratulations to Qona on doing what few New Zealanders manage to do and get past the first round at the top level.

On 25-26 April, the North Wellington Area Association hosted the first North Wellington Open for a couple of years.Even post Covid lockdown era, the turnout for this event was quite small.
