Another year is over. 2016 was particularly memorable for the Academy. Our competition year included medals at local, national and Oceania level – only the tip of the iceberg.
We have had a surge in membership at our new dojo and have welcomed new friends to the dojo, such as Nicolas Gourrin and Kenichiro Muramatsu, along with familiar faces like Mike Bond and Koji Komuro.
Many of you achieved new grades in your judo journeys. Senior grades went to Geoff, Qona and Al. Big congratulations to Patrick on his Shichidan getting Kodokan recognition.
2017 looks like being an exciting year. Nationals are being held in Wellington. There will be a lot of work needed to prepare for this.
Soon we will be starting out Masters Class (a.k.a Jurassic Judo – thank you Mr Spinks). and we look forward to welcoming new members and the return of old friends.
